Nestlé has invested in apprenticeships for almost 60 years and hugely values the benefits of building skills alongside embedding behaviours in the workplace.
The company offers 31 different apprenticeship programmes and currently has almost 200 apprentices across the business in the UK.
In Dalston, Nestlé has 18 apprentices. Of these, eight were new to Nestlé and ten are existing employees who are upskilling.
Jill Coyle, apprenticeship manager at Nestlé UK& Ireland, said: “Our apprenticeship schemes are open to people from all backgrounds.
“Diversity brings fresh thinking, new energies and great ideas to Nestlé and plays a crucial part in ensuring that our business continues to meet the needs of our consumers and customers.
“A big part of this comes from raising awareness and reaching out to different groups, particularly young people.
“We have partnered with organisations to engage with local schools and colleges, highlighting the different opportunities that are available to them and offering support to break down any barriers that might be stopping them from applying.
“We want to be seen as an employer of choice who develops and supports their employees to be the best they can be in whichever way they want to take their career at any and every stage.”
The Dalston factory employs 300 people and is a Centre for Excellence for foaming mixes for Nestlé worldwide.
It is home to some of Nestlé and Starbucks’ best loved coffee products that people use at home, including the Nescafé Gold Frothy Coffee, Nescafé Latte and Nescafé Azera Cappuccino, as well as the Starbucks Toffee Nut Latte.
