RUGBY league fans will have the chance to pay tribute to a 'brilliant young man' this weekend during a minutes applause in the seventh minute of the West Cumbria derby day match.

Logan Holgate, 18, who played for Hensingham ARLC in the open age and Under 18s, passed away suddenly on Wednesday.

A minutes applause will be held in the seventh minute at the Whitehaven RLFC vs. Workington Town RLFC match on Sunday, January 15, in tribute to the position the talented 18 year old played whilst on the pitch.

A spokesman for Whitehaven RLFC said: "On Sunday we will remember Logan Holgate. In the 7th minute the match will be stopped by the match official and both sets of players alongside the officials will have a minutes applause in memory of Logan.

"We invite fans of both Haven & Town to join to celebrate the life of a young lad lost far too soon.

"We can also confirm we will have a minutes applause prior to the game to remember those we have lost over the off-season."
