THIS Christmas many animals sit and wait in rescues for their fur-ever family to meet them, but sadly some animals have to wait a little bit longer.

Oak Tree Animals' Charity said: "We have had more people wanting to give up their animals than rehome due to the cost of living, so the more animals we can find the perfect homes for the better!"

Could you give one of these pets who have been waiting some time a home?

Lovely Dougie is a 8 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossed with a Bulldog. Dougie needs an owner who has plenty of time to provide lots of stimulation but can also help him to enjoy calm and quiet moments too. Dougie needs a quiet neighbour home but also wants an owner who can laugh and have fun with him, but who can also be as gentle and sensitive as he is too. Dougie needs a secure garden and a home with no young children, cats or small furries but he could potentially live with teenagers.

Meet Macey, she is a 3 year old Lurcher. Macey loves attention, attention, attention and is a very friendly girl. Her idea of fun is chasing cats unfortunately so she cannot live with any small furries. Her other loves in life are receiving cuddles and long sniffy walks. Poor Macey suffer from separation anxiety and cannot be left alone. She can be homed with sensible children.

Laddie is an active wee youngster who is looking for a new home. Being only 14 months old, this little fella is full of beans and will need some further training.  With people he trusts and know, he is super affectionate and likes to get close to you as possible. He can sometimes be wary and anxious of strangers and likes to approach people on his own terms. Laddie would be best in a home where he is the only animal, and in a quiet home. He can live with older and sensible children.

Tyne

Meet Tyne, a lovely 5 year old Border Collie who came to Oak Tree after he failed as a working sheepdog. Since Tyne has lived in a kennel outside his whole life, he is not toilet trained and not used to living in a home. He will need someone who is home at the beginning and needs an owner who is patient and can help him as he figures it all out. Tyne could potentially live with another dog after successful introductions at Oak Tree, he could live with older sensible children. Tyne needs lots of mental stimulation as a border collie.

Kelly

Meet Kelly, an 8 year old Domestic Short Hair.  Kelly loves to be around you for strokes, cuddles and head bumps. She can have a bit of cattitude on odd occasions so would be better homed with adults who will understand that she may like her own space sometimes. Kelly is an indoor cat who requires supervision outside.

Holly and Noël are siblings who are looking for a new home together, they are estimated to be around 3 months of age. They have never had outdoor access but would probably enjoy being allowed to explore. The kittens have never been around children but could potentially live with calm children as they are a little shy. Holly and Noël could potentially live with another cat or a calm dog.

Tasha

Whitehaven News: Meet TashaMeet Tasha (Image: Animal Concern Cumbria)

Meet Tasha, a English Bull Terrier cross Staffie, Tasha has had no enquiries since arriving at the shelter sadly. Tasha is a brilliant girl, she has a lovely nature and loves people.  Tasha’s only issue is that she is reactive, she is very vocal and takes a little while to calm down after coming across another dog. The perfect home for her would be somewhere quiet.

Tasha really is a great dog, she walks nice on the lead, loves to play with toys and run around in our off-lead area. She would make a great companion for someone who's willing to handle her noisiness.

Maverick

Whitehaven News: Meet MaverickMeet Maverick (Image: Animal Concern Cumbria)

This big fella is on the look out for a furever home. Maverick is a pretty chill cat who would love a home where he can get out and about to explore but away from busy roads. He loves to play with his toys but can be a bit excitable so would like a home without young children. He's a sweet boy who will happily come over for head rub.
