A WOMAN has admitted three serious drugs offences – including possessing the class A drug heroin in Workington with intent to supply.

Sophie Porter, 25, committed the offence on December 17, 2020, Carlisle Crown Court heard.

She pleaded guilty to that offence as well as possessing the class B drug cannabis – also with intent to supply – on the same day.

The defendant, of Helena Terrace, Bishop Auckland, Durham, also admitted a third offence: that she possessed criminal property – namely cash – in Workington on the same date.

Porter previously had an address of Princess Street, Bishop Auckland.

At Carlisle Crown Court, Judge Nicholas Barker told Porter, who has no previous convictions, that she will be sentenced next year at a date which is yet to be agreed. In the meantime, she was granted bail.

The court heard that a male defendant who has been charged with the same three charges has pleaded not guilty to all those allegations.

His trial will take place at the crown court in the week beginning March 20 next year.

The cases were due to be dealt with on September 12 but had to be adjourned because the announcement of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

A background Probation Service report will be prepared on Porter before she is sentenced.
