A charity fundraiser which started in a family home is this year celebrating  more than 40 successful years.

The St Bees Multi-Charity Christmas Sale will be held in Old College, St Bees Priory from 10am to 6pm on Friday and Saturday, November 11 and 12, and from  11.30 to 1.30 on Sunday, November 13 (Remembrance Sunday).

The event is the legacy of the late Charm Robson, who started the multi-charit sale from her own home.

It grew to such and extent that it eventually had to be moved from her home to Old College.

Charm Robson wasan inveterate supporter of many charities. She not only organised the multi-chairty sale, but ran marathons - including one in Uganda- did the Coast 2 Coast and did anything else she could to support those who helped people less fortunate than herself.

The Remembrance weekend multi-charity sale is not only a chance to pay tribute to her memory and raise funds for charity but is also an ideal chance to get some early Christmas shopping in.

The sale will feature Christmas cardes and gifts from moe than 10 charities. There will also be Fairtrade goods, food and recyclable products.

Felicity Watson’s  well-tasted jams, marmalades and chutneys will be on sale  in aid of West Cumbria Hospice at Home.

There will also be a chance to buy some artwork at an exhibition  and sale of local artists being organised by Chris Robson in New Colege Hall on Saturday, Nobemer 12.
