CHILDREN from schools all over the borough came together this week to raise funds for the poppy appeal, with a fantastic amount of money being raised for the Royal British Legion branches.

Seascale Nursery and Primary School children even thought of their own unique ways to try and raise money for the appeal, with the year Six's taking the lead this year by setting up their own Poppy shop.

School Governor Jason Rushworth who oversees history, was very impressed
with the fund raising. He said: "The children had been tasked with a marketing and business project, to try to raise as much money as possible for the charity and did not disappoint.

"The money raised now goes to help ex-service personnel and their families who are struggling."

Head teacher at Seascale Nursery and Primary School, Avril Spencer, was very proud of the pupils who took part in the fundraising initiative.

She said: “The children itemised all the merchandise and came up with recommended donation amounts for the younger children to buy. They worked very hard and the results are amazing.”

WW2 and will be leading an assembly next week for the whole school, showing what they learnt about different aspects of lives that were changed by war.

They will look at the effects on children In groups and created a freeze frame to discussed feelings of people in different scenarios.

They also looked at examples this week of propaganda posters from WW1 and in groups and created their own to promote different ideas.

Once they had designed their own they compared UK propaganda posters with German ones and discussed any similarities and differences.
