A talented young performer from Whitehaven will appear on TV screens over the festive season after bagging a starring role in a supermarket’s Christmas advert.

Bobby Donald will play the lead boy enjoying a family Christmas dinner in the festive ad campaign for Morrisons.

The 11-year-old travelled to London earlier this month to film the advert, which is due to air in November.

It’s been a busy year for Bobby who made his professional stage debut in the summer, playing the role of ‘Michael’ in a national production of Billy Elliot the Musical at Leicester’s Curve Theatre.

Bobby’s talent agent, Jess Bell from Scream Management, who has represented Bobby since he was five-years-old, said: “He just stood out. He’s such a character. His charm, personality and talent seems to shine through whenever he gets an opportunity, which is great.

“He’s very down-to-earth and his family are such lovely people who are dedicated and take him to these castings in their own time. He’s very hard-working for his age.

”Hopefully, there’s a lot more work for him. I think he’s got a bright future ahead. He just loves it and thrives on it.”

Jess said Bobby was “really chuffed” when he found out he had got the role.

Bobby has also performed in a number of amateur productions with his theatre, dance and singing schools.

He attends Whitehaven Theatre Group, Whitehaven Theatre of Youth, Stage Stars Dance School and Sing Stars Sing School.

He also has private dance lessons with Karen Starkey School of Dance, private drama lessons with Alex Clark and private singing lessons with Beth Clark.

Scream Management is always on the lookout for new talent. A half term workshop will take place next week.
