THIS week our readers have been deciding on their favourite curry restaurants in Cumbria.

We asked the question on social media as part of National Curry Week.

There were several restaurants that came up on our list which have proved to be very popular amongst Cumbrians.

One venue that proved to be a hit with our readers was Maryport Tandoori, with one reader describing the restaurant as 'the best in the west.'

The restaurant is also very well rated online with 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor and 350 reviews from customers.

Another reader said that Akash Tandoori in Whitehaven was their favourite. The restaurant has many a much-loved feature of the town for years now and is very popular with residents and visitors.

One reader said that they particularly enjoy the chicken vindaloo with egg pilau rice. The restaurant is also well received on TripAdvisor, with an impressive four stars.

Another restaurant which came up a lot on our list was Masala Bazaar in Carlisle. Located on Botchergate, the restaurant is a firm favourite for those out and about in Carlisle.

The restaurant says on their website that they are inspired by the bazaars on the streets on India.

A lot of our other readers mentioned The Viceroy in Carlisle which is described as a 'multi award winning Bangladeshi family ran restaurant and takeaway.'

The restaurant has become a firm favourite since it opened its doors in 1991 providing over thirty years of service to the people of Cumbria.

Our final restaurant which proved to be a favourite with our readers was Gurkha Spicy in Carlisle.

On their website the restaurant received a number of five-star reviews from customers.
