A spokesperson said: "Costs on absolutely everything have gone up significantly since 2019. What we have had to do to ensure the continuance of the Egremont Crab Fair: Put the gate price up by a couple quid for adults and put a few pence on a pint.

"Please continue to support our event. Be proud of Crab Fair. It has stood the test of time. Here’s to the next 755 years.

We have made sure that ‘Dancing in the street’ West Cumbria’s biggest free event is Bigger and better than in previous years. And tickets for the field are only £8 online and an added bonus for one week only, kids tickets are half price (£1.50) with any adult ticket."
