Police are investigating after a child was struck in a shop.
Northumbria Police are investigating an incident that occurred at Gills Fish Shop in Ponteland on Thursday, August 18.
A toddler was hit with a sharp object when he and his grandad was waiting in the queue to order their food, said police.
Although the toddler was hit - he did not need medical attention.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 8pm yesterday (Thursday), police received a report that a child had been struck by an object inside Gills Fish Shop, Ponteland.
“It was reported a man and his grandson had been inside the takeaway along with a small group of teenagers.
"The grandson was then hit by a flying object in the face. Thankfully, he did not require medical attention.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
