THE owner of a holiday hut was 'thrilled' with the success of its launch day.

Catherine Cape felt overwhelmed with the response of the launch day at her holiday cabin, 'The Hiddle Hut - Northumberland' at The Bents, Bardon Mill.

Catherine always had a plan to create the hub but felt held back because of her job as a primary school teacher.

When Covid hit she decided to retire early as she was medically vulnerable and she felt it was the right time to focus on building and creating her dream holiday hut.

"I would say around 100 or so people came," Catherine said.

"Everyone's reactions were so positive and I was quite overwhelmed at times.

"It was amazing to hear all of the "WOWs" and praise for a project that's just been living in my head for so many years."

As well as the launch day, Catherine ran a raffle for an overnight stay at the hut, which funds will go towards St Oswald's Hospice.

Catherine adds: "The raffle will be running for another few weeks, but so far, we have raised £1788, which we are delighted with."
