A BODY has been recovered in the search for the missing paddleboarder at Ullswater. 

The man's body was recovered from the water late on Thursday afternoon (August 11) after a fifth day of searching by multi-agency rescue teams. 

The man was last seen paddleboarding on Ullswater on Sunday afternoon (August 7)  when he got into difficulty, with his friend alerting emergency services to his disappearance.

A spokesperson from Cumbria Constabulary said: "The search team were deployed after a man in his mid-20s and from the Rochdale area was reported to have got into difficulties whilst paddleboarding on Ullswater on Sunday (August8) and was unaccounted for.

"The incident occurred at around 1.10pm on Sunday, in the vicinity of Aira Point, near to the ferry stop.

"The family of the missing man have been made aware of developments in the search.

"However, formal identification has yet to take place.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious," they said.
