The West Cumberland Choral Society is launching their Autumn season this September with a new Musical Director, Kaytie Harding.

The choir is seeking to extend membership following the pandemic as they take an exciting new direction. All singers are very welcome to go along and join in a diverse programme of music from many genres.

The choir's Chairman, Jan Cottam said: "We are all looking forward to an exciting new partnership with Kaytie, as we explore a broad and varied range of vocal music, all accompanied by our very talented pianist and organist Frank Bowler.

"We would love people to give us a try and come to our open rehearsal on Thursday 15 September from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, in St Begh’s Junior School Hall, Coach Rd, Whitehaven."

Kaytie Harding, the choir's new director of music, is a music teacher with choral and brass band dual specialism. She has worked for international schools in Hong Kong, UK and Poland and is passionate about getting children and adults singing.

The West Cumberland Choral Society, originally founded in 1969, has thrived under several distinguished directors, all from the field of education.

The Society is a charity that has always encouraged the musical development of students and young singers and more famous names include Joan Rodgers (CBE), and Philip Langridge.
