A POPULAR ice cream van company in west Cumbria made the decision to start offering contactless payments during the Covid pandemic.
King Whippy operates two vans on the Whitehaven Harbour area, and they can regularly be seen serving queues of customers.
Kelly Herald, of King Whippy, said: "We made the decision when Covid began as way for people to avoid paying cash.
"We haven't noticed a change in the amount of customers we are getting but we are always the busiest when the weather is nice and it's a sunny day."
Though the business still offers cash payments, contactless is an increasingly important way of drawing business with fewer people carrying cash than before the pandemic.
