The Platinum Jubilee celebrations may be over now, but one place in Cumbria really wants to keep the fun alive.

The Gather, in Ennerdale, have organised a competition based around a children's book named The Queen's Knickers.

Children in the area are being asked to design a pair of the 'Queen's knickers' which will be used as bunting at the Ennerdale Show on August 31.

There will also be a competition held for the best design with the winner being announced at the show.

June Pearson, a volunteer at The Gather, said: "We decided that instead of letting the Jubilee fade away we'd still have a lot of fun with it, so we decided on the competition based around The Queen's Knickers.

"The book came out in 1993 and was re publsihed in 2012 for the Diamond Jubilee. The book follows the Queen's knickers being lost and found and which ones she wears for every occassion.

"It's really funny, young children love it and adults do too. The book is primarily read in schools and asks the question 'what type of knickers would the Queen wear if she came to your school'?

"So we decided to change it to ask 'what would she wear if she met you or for other occassions?'

"There will be different prizes and different age groups and we want as many people to enter as much as they want too."
