A MARKET Square pop-up event will be held in Millom as part of an anti-dementia drive.

Copeland Dementia Friendly Communities, working alongside Allerdale Dementia Action Alliance, will hold sessions aimed at anyone living with dementia, worried about dementia or caring for someone with dementia.

And Millom's event will be held on Tuesday, May 17 from 10.00am until 2.00pm.

Cumbria County Councillor Patricia Bell, Cabinet Member for Health and Care Services, said: “These events come at an important time as diagnosis rates fall to a five-year low. Research shows that the misconception around memory loss being a sign of normal ageing is the biggest barrier to people seeking a dementia diagnosis.

"The events will offer advice and support to anyone effected by dementia, whilst also providing a variety of fun activities for those with dementia and their carers.”

Councillor Deborah Earl, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Community Services, said: “There will be many wonderful and supportive activities on offer and we’d encourage anyone living with dementia, worried about dementia or caring for someone with dementia or memory loss to get involved.”

This is part of a drive across West Cumbria.
