A COASTGUARD team has announced they are now carrying defibrillators on their vehicles.
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue team made the announcement yesterday (May 12).
A spokesperson from the team said: “Last night the team received our AED (automated external defibrillator) to bolster our medical capabilities.
“Very soon, every blue-light HM Coastguard vehicle in the UK will carry an AED.
“Whilst we have always ensured familiarity of the locations of public access ones in our area, carrying one as part of our own casualty care equipment will speed up the deployment and provide immediate assistance to those in need.”
