CLEATOR MOOR Marathon man Gary Mckee has shared the latest update of his diary entry with the News and Star.

The father is running 365 marathons in 365 days to try and raise money for Hospice at Home West Cumbria and Macmillan Cancer Research.

Gary said:The start of week 19 and almost 3500 miles ran. What happened to the expected heat wave? I’ve had a couple of wet days which I don’t mind as it stops you from overheating.

Last week Susan and myself went to the Pride of Sellafield Awards to see Alfie presented with the Ged Blaney Award and Community Hero Award for his efforts in cycling 26.2 miles ever day of the 110 days that I ran a marathon last year. Alfie also raise £4500 and I think his award was richly deserved. We were very proud parents.

Yesterday Karen Donaldson completed at 26.2 mile walk over the fella that saw her raise over £1000 for my charities and Joanne Huddart is currently walking the West Highland Way again raising funds for my chosen charities. Thanks to everyone who is supporting me in any way.

The cycle path is getting really busy towards the end of the week with coast to coast cyclists and walkers, most who have big smiles on their faces. I wonder if they’ll be smiling as much when they get to the other side. I know when I first walked the coast to coast it was such a relief to get to the other end. I thought my feet were going to fall off.

No falling off now though as I’ve still got 6000 miles of cycle path to flatten. If anyone wants to join me for whatever distance you’re capable of just get in touch. I can guarantee you’ll enjoy yourself.
