Whitehaven Flower Club has celebrated its Diamond Anniversary.

The club's April meeting was something special - a delicious afternoon tea at Hunday Manor - to mark 60 years since the club was established in March 1962.

Each table had a floral decoration which one lucky person at each table could win.

To entertain members beforehand, Helen Shipton-Smith from Helen’s Herbs made some Easter arrangements. Helen produced decorative door wreaths with a wire and moss ring to furnish with about 30 buttonhole size wired sprigs.

Joan Mossop came forward to cut the Diamond Anniversary celebration cake.

Vivienne Postlethwaite gave the vote of thanks and gave a brief history of the many events at country houses, castles and churches the club had been involved with. A toast was made to the club and to the Queen.

The next meeting is on May 13 at 2pm in St Mary’s Church Hall, Kells, where Lucy Richardson-Richmond will show members her take on ‘Dales Life’.

Anyone can come along as a visitor and enjoy flowers and fellowship. Give it a try.
