CLEATOR Moor marathon man Gary Mckee has completed a major milestone in his epic challenge this week as he reached the 100 marathon mark on Sunday.

The Marathon Man is aiming to raise a million pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Speaking to the Whitehaven News for his weekly diary entry, Gary said: "Another week completed and onto week 15.

"We hit a milestone on Sunday with it being day 100. The halfway point of the run was the Ennerdale Brewing to see the launch of Marathon Man IPA the breweries strongest beer and a non profit making beer.

"All the proceeds from the sales will go onto my JustGiving page. Huge thanks to everyone at the brewery for your continued support.

"As I ran into the forecourt there was a brass band playing and people waiting to greet me which was really nice. I’ve always said the support of the West Cumbrian community is unrivalled and on this occasion I wasn’t wrong.

"A prize bingo was held later in the day that raised more funds for the page and a big thanks goes to Nina Albertelli for organising it and to all those who attended.

"The following day - day 101 - one of the runners was dressed as a dalmatian. He got a few strange looks from people on the route, especially when he was stopping at every lamp post and cocking his leg.

"More people have been in touch asking about how to organise their own events to raise money for me which is great. This Saturday I’m swapping the cycle path for Fitz Park and the surrounding area of Keswick at the request of the Mayor of Keswick.

"Anyone is free to join me if you fancy getting a few mile in."
