DETAILED plans have now been submitted for 51 homes at a growing housing development.

Copeland Borough Council has received a reserved matters planning application to build 51 homes at Keekle Meadows in Cleator Moor.

A reserved matters application provides more detail on plans which have been approved in principle at an earlier date.

The 51 dwellings set to be built by High Grange Developments Ltd are the fourth and final phase of growth at the Cleator Moor site.

In their proposal, the developer said: "The housing layout reflects development elsewhere on the Keekle Meadows estate. The mix of detached and semi-detached houses will be grouped in small cul-de-sacs and groupings round the estate road.

Efforts have been made to ensure the development does not have a detrimental impact on the appearance of the Keekle Meadows surroundings.

High Grange Developments said: "The development is low density with each dwelling located in a large plot. This creates a significant element of undeveloped and open space within the development.

"Landscaping has been included in the most visually prominent areas of space. The building design largely reflect the designs and external finishes found elsewhere on the Keekle Meadows development.

"Minor amendments have been incorporated to allow a level of variety and interest."

The developer believes the development is in-line with meeting housing demand.

High Grange Developments said: "The proposal represents a high quality housing scheme to continue to meet local housing needs in this location. The principal of development has been established by the grant of outline planning permission.

"The availability of housing infrastructure and services will allow the natural continuation of existing development. This will allow the development to be delivered efficiently, sustainably and with the minimum of disruption."
