A couple have admitted locking two dogs in a dirty cupboard with no access to food, water, or daylight.
Dean Singleton-Bagley, 30 of Greystone Place, Cleator Moor and Natalie Graham, 28, of William Morris Avenue, Cleator Moor, appeared at Workington Magistrates' Court on Monday.
They both pleaded guilty to two charges of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
The court was told that the offences had taken place on or before January 7 this year.
The dogs were locked in a small dirty cupboard daily, with no bedding, no access to food, water, or daylight and were not exercised.
The case has been adjourned until February 14 to allow a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the probation service.
