The box office of a popular theatre has been forced to close.

Due to the cancellation of all remaining performances of Sleeping Beauty after a cast member tested positive for Covid-19, the Rosehill Theatre in Whitehaven has been forced to temporarily close its box office.

The theatre came out on social media to apologies for any inconvenience and hope for a "more settled programme" for 2022.

A spokesperson for the Rosehill Theatre said: "Due to the sad cancellation of all remaining performances of Sleeping Beauty, after a cast member tested positive for Covid-19, our box office will no longer be opening this morning (Thursday).

"We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment caused by the late change.

"We will reopen as scheduled at 1pm on Monday 3 January, ready for our 2pm screening of the film House of Gucci, starring Lady Gaga."
