There is no doubt that with the onslaught of Storm Arwen, most of us will be staying indoors, where it is warm and cosy, and what indoors pass-time is better than snuggling up on the couch and watching a film?

Not just any film, however, we need to keep our festive spirits high, so we asked readers what they thought the best Christmas film was.

1.MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET. This film touches the heart of everyone's inner child who still believe, even if they won't admit it, in the magic of Christmas.

Plus the famous scene of all those letters to Santa Claus is a triumphant moment that is sure to lift everyone's spirits.

2.SANTA CLAUS: THE MOVIE. This film is abot the origin of Santa Claus, and his modern-day adventure to save one of his elves.

Despite being a favourite of some of our readers, it was a financial and critical failure.

3.ELF. This film is simply delightful, hilarious, and original.

Telling the tale of Buddy, one of Santa's elves, who gets out of the North Pole and gallivants around modern-day New York City, getting into all kinds of shenanigans.

This deserves to be at the top of anyone's Christmas film list.

4.THE POLAR EXPRESS. This film about a young boy who boards a train to the North Pole, and meets Santa, is interesting to say the least.

It appears to be magical as a child, but then creepy as an adult, still a classic!

5.NATIVITY. This film is relatable to everyone who had to endure acting or watching a school Nativity production, laughs all round.

6.LOVE ACTUALLY. Appearing to skirt the line between heart-warmingly romantic and sickeningly cheesy, this inescapable romance is a must watch for all.

7.IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE. This tear-shedder is a long-running classic, and for good reason.

Don't forget the tissues when watching this one!

8.HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS. Perhaps one of the best performances by Jim Carrey, this is a faithful adaptation of the children's book, and has a perfect blend of surreal humour and slapstick, to be expected with Dr Seuss!

9.HOME ALONE. No matter how many times it's watched, no one can understand how in the world they manage to forget their son!

For the family's sake, though, I think he can fend for himself!

10.DIE HARD. Is it a Christmas film, or do people just say it is to be alternative?

No one really knows, but the action does at least happen on Christmas!
