This week a parish council in West Cumbria held a Marrow Competition to raise money for local charities.
The contest, organised by Egremont Town Council, was held at Bridgend Allotments with the winner being a lady named Barbara Shaw.
A spokesperson from Egremont Town Council said: "The trophy was the brain child of Mr William Maxwell to include a bit more fun and banter, while serving a purpose. The monies £105 was donated to Egremont Food Bank and gratefully received by Sandra Clements.
"A big thank you to Egremont Rugby Union for allowing the free use of the club and facilities for the weigh in, Jan from Nice Bites for the delicious pies and Mrs Kath Maxwell who did the presentation."
