Cumbria will be marking the start of National Safeguarding Adults Week with seven days of action to tackle several important key issues.

The aim is to highlight safeguarding key issues, facilitate conversations and to raise awareness of safeguarding best practice so we can all be better together.

Each day of the week will focus on a different safeguarding theme and will see a different five-minute daily brief given each day by the county council's Cumbria Safeguarding Adults Board.

The first brief will focus on issues around emotional abuse which can have a devastating impact on mental as well as physical health.

To have safer cultures, the council prioritise wellbeing, and create a culture where people can speak out, be listened to and respected.
