PLANS have been submitted to build a housing block and additional parking to supplement a previously approved application.

A further planning application has been submitted to Copeland Borough Council for the Dentholme Site at Todholes Road in Cleator Moor.

The application is being handled by SNG Architecture Limited.

Planning permission was previously granted for eight apartments which join onto the said application.

The site was initially earmarked to be sold for a potential HMO development.

But in their design and access statement, the applicant said: “amendments to the Car Park Layout for the eight apartment unit have impacted the footprint of this End Terrace site, so that it is now best suited to form 2 apartments.”

The proposed addition of two apartments will be designed in-keeping with the previously approved Terrace Scheme and the existing housing of the area.

SNG Architecture said: “The existing site is ideal for the proposed new housing and the development will be of benefit to the immediate and wider local area, enhancing the appearance of the site and wider social economic improvements that the development will bring.”

They say that the development’s impact would be “low and beneficial, it is therefore concluded that the proposed works satisfy relevant clauses of the NPPF and Copeland Local Plan.”

SNG Architecture said that the apartments will be designed in “strict accordance” with Building Regulations Part L, with high standards of insulation.

The landscaping proposed for the site is described as “modest” and largely made up of “water permeable landscaping to accommodate the new car park punctuated with green pockets all with the aim of enhancing the setting of the building.”

The public can view and comment on all planning applications submitted to council for approval.

Planning panel members will take comments of support or objection into account when they decide whether or not to grant approval.
