THE PUBLIC are being encouraged to have their say on a council's new Local Plan.

A borough or district council's Local Plan informs the direction of development and investment in the area.

Copeland Borough Council is currently developing its new document which will guide the development of the area until 2038.

And residents are being encouraged to give their views on changes to the plan.

Changes include reshaping of the settlement boundary in Millom, Egremont, Arlecdon and Rowrah, Drigg and Holmrook, Beckermet, Moor Row and Ennerdale Bridge.

A new version of the Copeland Local Plan is also set to include the removal of a draft housing allocations for potential development in Frizington as well as Seascale and St Bees. A policy could be added for an Innovation Centre at the Leconfield Industrial Estate in Cleator Moor.

New policies will also be added relating to climate change, health and air quality.
