A PROPOSAL has been submitted to install a new automatic opening front porch at Bethshan Nursing home.

Copeland Borough Council has received an application for planning approval with plans for an opening automatic front porch and an additional door to an understair storage space in the ground floor lounge.

In their design, heritage and access statement, the applicant said that the works are required for two practical reasons: the existing access is not fit for purpose, and the existing arrangement does not allow fully flexible accessibility which is set out in the Equalities Act 2010. The main doors will be automatic with manual doors to the side for escape in the event of a fire where the main door electrical supply may be disrupted by fire.

The applicant has submitted the application to Copeland Borough Council with the intention to improve accessibility to the nursing home and ensure the safety of guests, residents and staff.
