A museum and art gallery in west Cumbria announced that it will be working in partnership with the National Gallery on a project aimed at promoting understanding and appreciation of Old Master Paintings.
The Beacon Museum in Whitehaven is working in partnership with the National Gallery Masterpiece Tour 2021-23.
The painting that will be the focus of 2021 is an "iconic" Georgian painting of a young boy who is building a house out of playing cards by French painter, Jean Simeon Chardin.
According to the Beacon Museum, the piece is viewed as one of "national importance".
The aim is for the painting to support the museum to promote well-being through the arts and culture.
It also aims to change perceptions to art and will look at the positive impact of participation in the community.
