After Whitehaven RLFC played an outstanding performance over the weekend defeating Bradford Bulls.

They will now head into the play offs a major success for the team who have went above and beyond this season.

Businesses and fans have shared their thoughts on what has been a brilliant few months for the team.

Gail Atkinson, Landlady of The Puncheon, said: "I'm really delighted with Whitehaven playing so well recently.

"I would like to congratulate the team for getting to the play offs and I'll be cheering them on all the way.

"Good luck to them."

There is definitely hope in the air around Whitehaven and sheer joy after the secured such a strong victory over the weekend, especially against a strong side like Bradford.

Chris Hayes, Mayor of Whitehaven, said: "They're on a role now and they've playing some of the best rugby I've seen in my life.

"I'd love to see them do well as I'm a massive rugby league fan.

"Fingers crossed they can go right to the top after an amazing result after they totally outplayed Bradford."

Whitehaven will go onto face Halifax this weekend who they have already beaten earlier in the season.

Everyone around the town is hoping for another promising result and there is a real sense of excitement.

If they manage a victory against Halifax they will go onto play Toulouse who are another strong side.

Kyle McCurrie, a lifelong supporter of the club, said: "Whitehaven making the playoffs is a massive achievement for the boys and the town as they were a write off at the start of the season to finish bottom.

"The game on Saturday will be huge and they have nothing to fear as they are on top form at the minute and I'm sure they'll put on a good show yet again.

"The win on Sunday was unreal the way the lads came back from 16-0 down to win so convincingly, they have got to go into the game on Saturday on a real high."

James Burns, a supporter of the club, added: "It's fantastic, no one would have expected this at the start of the season.

"They've got this far; they beat Halifax a fortnight ago and I don't see why they can't do it again."
