A CHARITY coffee morning is taking place in a West Cumbrian village this week.

Lowca Community Club is hosting a Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning on Friday.

It will take place between 10am and 2pm.

There will be various stalls with cakes and coffee available.

Funds raised will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event is part of Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee Morning fundraiser.

People from all over the UK host their own coffee morning on Friday, September 24.

These vary from a group in a garden, sharing a coffee over a screen and a takeaway cake and cuppa.

Over £10 million was raised across the UK last year.

The first one took place in 1990.

Macmillan offers support to people who are suffering from cancer.

All money donated helps, with £71 helping run their Online Community Forum for over three hours.

a person affected by cancer could attend a health and wellbeing event for £100 and £350 could pay a grant which lets a family take a holiday and enjoy precious time together.

Posting on their Facebook page, Lowca Community Hub said: "Come down and enjoy coffee & cake raising funds for a fantastic cause.

"See you all there."
