A vegan café in Keswick was featured on national television.

Kat’s Kitchen provided the scene for naturalist Chris Packham and his stepdaughter, Megan McCubbin for their BBC Two show ‘Chris and Meg’s Wild Summer’, which was broadcasted on Sunday (12th).

Discussing how the business was approached for the show, owner Kat Hale said: “The BBC approached me via email saying that they were filming in the area. They mentioned that a couple of unnamed celebrities were filming their new show and were looking for somewhere to eat that catered to vegans.

“There aren’t really many vegan places in Cumbria so when I was approached I was incredibly flattered. They had no special arrangements so it was really easy to accommodate them.”

Revealing after the show had broadcast that Packham was one of her dream dinner guests, Kat shared: “They were suffering from a few time constraints on the day due to some vehicle problems and because of the really hot weather. I did get to meet the entire crew however as well as getting to speak to Chris one-to-one. He is so informed about the environment and the animals we see in the area. I felt privileged to have met him.”

Mrs Hale mentioned that there had been a ‘definite’ increase in attention since the broadcast, with many of her customers sending congratulatory posts on social media. Kat has also seen a reasonable intake on the number of people who have liked or followed the company’s Facebook and Instagram pages and has been in contact with a couple of businesses in regards to collaboration on vegan products.
