After a great match on Sunday for Whitehaven RLFC the club are optimistic about future matches.

They have now secured five consecutive wins at home and will be playing away against York City Knights.

Head Coach, Gary Charlton, said: "In the first half we were short of where we wanted to be but in the second half we played outstanding defensively.

"We got two points against a fulltime outfit so we're pleased with that."

The side are now preparing for their match against York this Sunday and are going to give it all they've got.

Mr Charlton said: "It'll be a tough game going to York because they're a handy team with some ex Super League players in their squad but we're really looking forward to it."

Whitehaven have only five matches to go until the play offs so they told us that they'll try to get as high in the league as they possibly can.

Mr Charlton added: "Everytime we go out to the field we're trying our best but we don't like to look to far ahead.

"We're always just looking towards the next game."

The upcoming match will take place on Sunday at 3pm away at York.
