CUMBRIA Police have offered an update as they look to identify the body of a young female on Askam Beach yesterday.

The force believes that the woman is between 30 to 40 years of age and of East Asian origin.

Anyone who may have relevant information to help the enquiries is now being urged to contact Cumbria Police.

A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: “Officers are continuing their efforts today (30 July) to identify the woman who was found deceased on the beach at Askam early yesterday morning.

“The body was found on the beach in the early hours of Thursday (29 July) by a member of the public out walking.

“Officers are continuing to progress efforts to try and identify the woman, who is suspected of being between 30 and 40 years of age and of East Asian origin.

“Police have made contact with other forces – neighbouring and further afield – so that missing person databases can be cross referenced but none of the forces contacted reported any match.

“Anyone with information which could assist officers as they make their enquiries is asked to contact police referencing incident 16 of 29 July 2021.
