Readers have been responding to a story following concerns over drug use on a housing estate.

Concerned residents living on Bransty in Whitehaven have reported seeing drug deals being done in public, which has been branded “shocking” by one community leader.

Police have also received reports of people trying doors in Brayton Road in the early hours of the morning.

Here’s what you had to say.

Paul Ferguson said: “It's awful round by the garages by Harbour View care home, too. The number of cannisters left behind by people using so called 'legal highs' is appalling”

Luke Woodend said: “Legalise and regulate, take it out of the hands of criminals and this behaviour will drop dramatically.

“People should be allowed to consume whatever they want, they shouldn’t be restricted to one of the worst of them all — alcohol — just because it’s the only one that’s legal.

“It’s only considered antisocial because of the ridiculous laws in this country that treat drug users the same as violent criminals.”

“The war on drugs has failed miserably, wherever there’s demand — and there always will be — there’s supply. Let it be from authorised retailers.”

“Alcohol was illegal once and look at how that turned out.”
