A WEST Cumbrian teacher who grew up in Whitehaven has had two more books published.

Helen Haralsden, who teaches at Keswick School, said: “The two books are both part of my Amber’s Pony Tales series, which are based on my own ponies that I had as a pony-mad kid.

“The first three books in the series are already out, and in February, the fourth one, ‘Amber’s Challenge’ was released."

This book focuses on the Pony Club sport of tetrathlon which consists of four elements: shooting at a target, swimming, running and riding a cross country course.

“This was a sport I competed in regularly as a young person but it’s been over 20 years since I last did one. I needed to check that my memories of the sport were still accurate so I had some young tetrathletes who are currently competing act as advisors.”

Two more of Helen’s books are due out later in the year. “At the moment, I have two books being prepared for publication: the fifth Amber’s Pony Tales story and also the sequel to ‘The Dalmatian that Lost its Spots’,” said Helen, who lives in Great Clifton.

“I’m hoping that both of these books will be ready for publication later this summer.”
