Two experienced hairdressers are needed to support an innovative women’s charity.

Women Out West, based at Haig Enterprise Park, in Whitehaven, and supporting victims of domestic violence, is launching a hair salon which will open every Friday and Saturday from early next month.

The innovative women’s centre, which opened in 2019, was unable to fundraise during lockdown despite the fact that the demand for its services was higher than ever during the pandemic.

Grant funding from UnLtd, an organisation which backs social entrepreneurship, has made it possible to put the salon plans in place to both raise vital income to support the centre and also to help women in West Cumbria to thrive and reach their potential through accessible services at the centre.

Rachel Holliday, founder of Women Out West, said: “We are excited to proceed with the opening of our hair salon. As a social enterprise we find innovative ways to generate sustainable income and support from UnLtd is priceless in allowing us to implement these plans. This will have a positive impact on our future and allows us to offer even more to the wonderful women in West Cumbria. Now what we need is two qualified hair stylists to rent chair space and help us welcome even more people to the bright, welcoming centre at Kells. Interviews will take place at the beginning of June, and we can’t wait to receive applications.”
