READERS have reacted angrily after a fire at a children's play park on Barrow Island.

One fire engine from Barrow Fire Station was called out to the blaze on Monday night.

The duty manager said: "We were called out to a small fire at the playpark.

"The fire has been extinguished and there were no injuries suffered."

Sam Kate Butler said: "We live round this area and it's so sad to see that somebody has done this, the poor children are absolutely devastated since we have only had the new park for a few year."

"Too many arson attacks lately.

"There was one the other week by Vue and now this. It is mindless vandalism and could of put lives at risk with the toxic smoke.

"Then we need to get them to pay for the damage.

"Also we need to look at a fundraiser to replace the park."

Paul Gibson said: "Nice town."

GP Rose said: "I could smell the smoke at Ramsden Square."

Nick Watson said: "Hope whoever did this gets caught and arrested for it and charged disgusting some people."

Kev Park said: "Surely that park will be surrounded by cameras. Identify and expose."

Sam Kate Butler said: "Kev Park fingers crossed."
