COPELAND Borough Council is asking residents to give their opinions on shopfronts in the area.

The council launched a public consultation into the design of shopfronts in its borough yesterday and is wanting residents to give their views.

The council has launched the scheme as it believes that high quality shop fronts are essential to making sure that local high streets are viable.

The Shopfront Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) will highlight the good points of shop fronts as well as things that may need to be avoided when considering how to improve and design these shopfronts in the future, in order to endure that businesses have the best possible chance to be viable and maximise the effectiveness of the building for the business.

The consultation will run until June 21.
