A new campsite is coming to the Lake District this July and August.

Camp Eden will offer boutique camping, food and drink, and music, with an array of outdoor activities on its doorstep including cycling, hiking, wild swimming and kids adventures at the Lowther Estate outside Penrith.

The organisers say: “Camp Eden will be an incredible experience for anyone desperate to escape to nature and unlock their wild side. After what’s been a long twelve months, we’re excited to look forward to a summer of rekindling our passion for the great outdoors.

“We’re lucky to have the stunning Lake District National Park on our doorstep, so families and groups can pitch up at Camp Eden and get out and about exploring the neighbourhood during the daytime, before returning for a hot shower, woodfired pizza, craft beer and a relax around the campfire.”

Accommodation will include boutique Bedouins and Bell Tent suitable for groups of up to four, plus smaller structures, and ‘pitch and park’ for those who wish to bring their own tents.

Lowther Castle is one of the most intriguing visitor attractions in the country. Dramatic ruins, gardens within gardens, an adventure playground hidden amongst the trees where you will find one of the world’s largest treehouses - here you will find a haven for children both young and old.

Cycle-hire is also on the menu so once you have explored the castle and gardens to your satisfaction, you can climb aboard a bicycle and journey around the wider park.On the doorstep of the estate you will find a multitude of offerings including the Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre, Long Meg and her Daughters standing stone circle, Aira Force waterfalls and Ulswater Lake (the second largest lake in the English Lake District) which can be traversed by steamer, rowing boat or paddleboard.
