The state of the roads across Cumbria are something that often cause a problem for motorists.

Many drivers are constantly battling to avoid potholes in the road as well as many other problems on our counties roads.

We asked our readers what the worst roads are for them. Here’s what you had to say.

Dave Wild said: “They’re all bad roads.”

Paula Herbert commented: “There isn’t a road that doesn’t need fixing. So all of them.”

Rick Shaw added: “All of them.”

Daniel Caine continued: “All of them – you need a hovercraft where I live.”

Mark Rosconie said: “All absolutely rotten, including all the speed bumps that are totally shot and in disrepair. Embarrassing.”

Tom Martin said: “Every road in Barrow.”

Glynis Bland commented: “The A5092. Narrow road and blind corners – wagons well exceeding the speed limits and huge campervans heading to Coniston taking up all of the road. Flooding when it is wet. Potholes through Greenodd.”

Andy Smith explained: “I commute Ulverston to Glasgow weekly and much further afield, and the A590 has to be of the most aggressive roads I encounter around the UK, with insane junctions bearing in the middle to turn off.”

Richard Lowe said: “All of them, then they resurface them and it's like riding the big dipper.”

Richard Timpson continued: “All of them – I had to buy a new tyre the other day because of a pothole.”

Allan Clarke added: “The roads around Sunderland are all single track and in places full of potholes, yet they can find the cash to put in a new passing place on the road to Sunderland from the A591.”

Nicholas Hantom said: “I got a puncture due to hitting a pothole. Worst roads in Europe.”

You can report problems with roads to Cumbria County Council via their website www.cumbtria.gov.uk. There is a section on the website to report a Highway fault.
