We’ve been focussing on one of Whitehaven’s junior schools this week – Jericho School.
Flicking back through the photographs we found a school performance from back in 1976.
Pupils obviously enjoy their sport and we found plenty of photos of teams that had travelled through to Carlisle to take part in the News & Star’s popular five-a-side football tournament over the years.
But that’s not the only sport they take part in and we also found a picture of the team that were runners-up in a tag rugby tournament held at Egremont.
Winning is obviously a habit at Jericho. Pupils in a French class won a prize with their design for a new Citroen 2CV while back in 2001 pupils won the Young Citizens’ Quiz Trophy.
And in 2004 pupils were to be found helping Copeland Council plant flowers in the town centre.
Were you a pupil at Jericho School? Tell us your memories.
