While Seascale Golf Club’s manager prays for a bit of rain, the members continue to enjoy the prolonged fine conditions, which were reflected in the scores of the 153 players turning out for Wednesday’s Mixed Tee Medal. The first four winners in each division, with Playing Handicaps follow.

Liam Towers (12) won Div.1 with nett 67, then James Stothers (4), Colin McEwan (12) and Michael Keenan (10) all on 68 claimed second, third and fourth respectively. Malcolm Campbell (17) 66 took the Div.2 title, followed by Leon Hutton (13), John Taylor (17) and James Edwards (17) all returning nett 68. Saving the best for last, and with an eye-watering nett 59 off 29, Michael Hall took the Div.3 honours by six shots from David Mellon (23) 65, Dylan Stainton (21) 67 and John Gibbons (22) 67. Thirteen Twos were recorded.

The weather and good course condition, continued to allow good scoring from the 139 entrants in Sunday’s Medal (Aggregate 2 of 15). The first four prizes of six in each division, with Playing Handicaps follow.

Countback was needed to separate the three leaders in Div.1, where Mickey Benn (6), Mark Jacques (8) and Terry Russell (8) all returned nett 70 to take first, second and third. Tony Hart (9) with the best of three 71s nailed fourth spot. Andrew Prince, with nett 68 off 10 handicap won Div.2 from Benji Moore (10) and Colin Mitchell (10), both on 69 took second and third, leaving Paul Barry (11) with the best of four 70s in fourth. As in Wednesday’s Medal, conditions seem to encourage good scoring from the Div.3 players. Peter Barnes (28) returned an excellent nett 59, equalling Wednesday’s winning score, to lead by five shots from David Edwards (23)64. Alistair Barnes (15)69 and Mike Cooper (21)70 got third and fourth. There were 11 twos. Dave Birkett bagged two.
