Temperatures are set to soar across Cumbria this weekend, so here are our top places to enjoy in the spring sunshine.

With forecast blue skies and temperatures of at least 17C, we've picked out the very best attractions to bask in the sun.

If you’re near Ravenglass why not stop off and visit the Roman Bath House.

Open any reasonable time during daylight hours. The remains of the bath house of Ravenglass Roman fort, established in AD 130, are among the tallest Roman structures surviving in northern Britain - the walls stand almost 4m high.

Alternatively, you could visit the National Trust site at Aira Force, near Penrith. The stunning waterfall is reached through glorious woodland walks.

Perhaps you're looking shift your Covid kilos, so why not try your hand at fell walking? The Lakeland Fells offer some of the best high-level walks in England.

The highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike (978 meters) is based in the area, and is one of the most popular fells for walkers. In addition to Scafell Pike the Lake District offers other famous fells like Skiddaw and Helvellyn and the Old Man of Coniston.

Alternatively, head to Keswick for a walk around the lake - Derwentwater is only a 10-minute walk from the centre of town. To the west you can see the fells of Cat Bells, and to the east unparalleled views of Friar’s Crag, then to the south you have the entrance to Borrowdale Valley.

The Lake District Wildlife Park recently reopened its doors with a host of new attractions, or sit in an open air carriage enjoying the scenery while riding behind La'al Ratty, the Ravenglass and eskdale Railway.

There are also plenty of parks you can visit. Rickerby Park is a traditional Victorian parkland, and is great if you live close to Carlisle.

There’s plenty of open space for you to meet friends, socially distanced, for a walk and a picnic outdoors.
