THE LATEST on Covid-19 in Cumbria reveals that the virus’ rate of reproduction is shrinking in Cumbria.

Data collected week ending April 9 and collated on Wednesday, shows that there were 69 new cases in Cumbria that week - a decrease of nine or 12 per cent from 78 cases the previous week.

Demographics from Cumbria County Council’s situational report show that Copeland, overtook Allerdale in having the greatest number of new cases.

Copeland’s rate was above the national average and equal to the regional average rate of infection.

All other districts of Cumbria recorded rates below the national and regional averages.

Most Cumbrian districts saw a decrease in infections on the previous week but Copeland and Carlisle were the exception.

30-39 year-olds accounted for the greatest number of new cases followed by the, 19-24 age group.

Numbers of new patients admitted with Covid-19 positive status in North Cumbria Integrated Care decreased.

The number of patients admitted with Covid-19 positive status remained the same in University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.

Cumbria County Council revealed that the situation in care homes “remains stable.”
