A road in Whitehaven will be closed for at least the next two weeks due to a gas leak.
Cumbria County Council issued an emergency notice because of the likelihood of danger to the public, as a result of a gas leak at Hilton Terrace.
Vehicles are prohibited from passing along that section of U4298 Hilton Terrace, Whitehaven from its junction with James Pit Road extending in a north-easterly direction for a total distance of approximately 50m.
The notice will be in force for a period of up to 21 days from April 8. A route for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
An alternative route for vehicles will be available via the unrestricted section of Hilton Terrace, Wellington Row, George Street, Bransty Row, New Road, Loop Road North, Victoria Road and Solway View.
