Nominations for the Copeland's May council elections close tomorrow.

They must be received by 4pm Thursday April 8, to be included.

There are three elections in Copeland.

One is a county-wide election to choose a Police and Crime Commissioner for Cumbria.

The other two elections are local with a by-election for the Copeland Borough Council's Whitehaven Central Ward and a by-election on Parton Parish council.

The local government elections will be held on May 6 and a council spokesman said there has been some" interest" so far.

The council reminded people that St Peter’s Parish Community Hall in Kells, is having repair work carried out so that polling station will now be relocated to St Mary's Club on High Road, about half a mile away.
