A drug-driver has been banned off the roads for 14 months after being caught more than eight times over the legal limit.

Conor McGlennon, of Bank Yard Road, Parton, was also fined £120 after pleading guilty to the offence when he appeared before magistrates at Workington court.

The court heard the 29-year-old was driving a Ford Transit on the A595 at Workington on July 10 last year when the incident occurred.

McGlennon admitted driving while he was over the limit for the cocaine breakdown product known as benzoylecgonine.

He was found to have 431ugl of benzoylecgogine in his blood, more than eight times over the limit, which is 50ugl.

As well as the ban and the fine, McGlennon must pay £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £34 victim services surcharge.
