It’s almost a year since the first lockdown was announced by Boris Johnson.

On March 23, 2020, Prime Minister Boris Johnson told the UK public they would only be allowed to leave their homes for limited reasons, including food shopping, exercise once per day, medical appointments and emergencies, and travelling for work when absolutely necessary.

Now, we’re looking forward to restrictions easing. The first set of restrictions is due to ease on March 8.

We have all had to make sacrifices over the past year, but there are lots of things we still miss.

Sinéad Gracey Watson said: “Strolling through the town especially on a Saturday, after a breakfast at Woodrows. Visiting family out of Carlisle. Work. A night out in the pub, putting the world to rights with friends.”

Jen Holmes added: “Family and friends, weekends away, concerts, taking kids for days out and soft play.”

Hannah Bas commented: “My children being able to socialise with family and being able to take them to soft play.”

Tracey Reay explained: “Spending time with family especially because we had a baby on March 19, just before lockdown and she’s coming up to a year and no one has really cuddled her.”

Marco Antonio said: “Meeting friends and family, hugging them, seeing their faces without a mask that looks more like a muzzle.”

Kirstie Heard continued: “Family, friends, treating my kids to days out, going for meals, holidays, being able to go to a shop without wearing a mask.”

Michelle Musgrave said: “Family, pure and simple. Not pubs, not holidays — purely and simply family.”

Joanne Nelson commented: “Having coffee in a proper cup, and no mask when shopping, because I can’t see without glasses. It’s a good job I know my way round shops!”

Lynn Sowerby added: “Shopping in clothes shops, meeting my friends, going out for meals, taking my grandchildren out for the day.”

Kristina Broomfield added: “Seeing family in person, not on a screen.”

Maggie Watt commented: “Visiting family, especially my lovely grandson. Believe it or not, I actually miss going shopping!”
